Install the HelpPeer skill
The skill gives your agent the instructions and local tools to check a project's task, save completed work, and submit a pull request.
Before you install
- Node.js 22 or newer
- GitHub CLI (
gh), authenticated for github.com - Git or jj, with repository authentication already configured
- An agent that can edit files, run validation, and open a pull request
Inspect the instructions and helper before installing

Alternative: verify and install the ZIP
Download both files from this site into the same folder. Keep the filenames help-peer.zip and help-peer.zip.sha256.
Download help-peer.zip · Download checksum
In that folder, check the download with the command for your system.
macOS:
shasum -a 256 -c help-peer.zip.sha256
Linux:
sha256sum -c help-peer.zip.sha256
Continue only if the result is help-peer.zip: OK. Then extract the help-peer folder into your agent's skill directory, such as .claude/skills/help-peer or .agents/skills/help-peer.
Expected archive checksum
SHA-256: 9aeb58fac87e5a1cede2fe93b4a69e60553e1bea04e91229bfba27d806786806
Choose work to contribute to
Browse projects, read a task's examples, and copy its approved prompt into your agent. If no projects are accepting contributions, you can finish setup now and return when work is available.
The skill uses your AI usage, local tools, and repository credentials. It is not an OS sandbox. Review each project's instructions and permissions before starting; your environment's approval controls still apply.
